Nokia has just unveiled its new flagship for Verizon called Lumia Icon. Neatly designed, the phone employs a polycarbonate unibody in matte silver or matte black with a metal frame of aluminum, powered by a quad-core Snapdragon processor running at 2.2 GHz with 2 GB of RAM. The Icon is fronted by a 5-inch Full HD OLED display with ClearBlack technology. Nokia focuses on video recording quality in terms of both audio and video as the flagship comes with new high-dynamic range microphones for rich and distortion-free sound and a 20MP PureView camera.
The 20-megapixel PureView camera is the same system found on the 6-inch Lumia 1520. It consists of a six-element Zeiss lens with f/2.4, optical image stabilization and dual LED flash. Up front there is a 2-megapixel camera capable of 720p videos. Nokia Lumia Icon includes four microphones – two on the back and two on the front. Two front-facing microphones are active during calls, while the microphones on the back are used for video recording.
As far as the display, it is an inch smaller than the Lumia 1520, but has the same resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, resulting in an impressive pixel density of 441ppi. Lumia Icon is much more comfortable to hold in one hand than the giant 1520. It measures 136.5 x 71.4 x 10.5 mm and weighs 166 grams, which is 21 grams less than the 4.5-inch Nokia Lumia 920.
The Verizon’s Lumia Icon is fueled by a 2420 mAh battery and comes with 32GB of internal storage but without microSD slot. Other features include Qi Wireless charging, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 4G/LTE, NFC, GPS, FM radio. Nokia Lumia Icon goes on sale in the US on February 20 for $199.99 with a new 2-year contract on Verizon.
