How to activate the FM radio on your Lumia 950

You can enable FM radio on Lumia 950
If you have an European version of the Lumia 950 you may have noticed that the FM radio is missing in the app list. Moreover, while Microsoft removed the built-in radio from Windows 10 Mobile with the Anniversary Update, the users could still listen to FM radio by downloading one of the many third party apps in the Store.
But what about the Lumia 950? Unfortunately, the FM radio functionality is still not available for some versions of this phone – you may see a message saying that “feature not supported by your phone”.
But you can easily enable the FM radio on the Lumia 950 by changing the registry key value. Here is how to do it:
-
Enable Developer Mode. Go to Settings → Update & Security → For Developers
-
Download and Install the Interop Tools app from Mega. Download the appx pack on your PC and copy it to the phone memory. Using the File Explorer, navigate to the folder where you saved it, and tap on the file to install the Interop Tools on the phone.
-
The Interop Tools will be displayed in Settings → Extras
-
Open Interop Tools and tap ‘Registry Browser’.
-
Scroll down to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/FMRadio/OEM/NotPresent
-
Change the registry key value from 1 to 0.
-
Now you can install a third-party FM radio app on your Lumia 950.
You’d better backup the phone before the modification. In case of problems, you can always restore using the Device Recovery Tool. You can uninstall the Interop tool after the manipulation.
