Nokia has just published its financial reports for Q2 2013. Despite the record Lumia sales, the Finish company still loses €115 million. The good news is that Nokia has decreased significantly its overall loss from €824 million in Q2 2012 to €115 million for the same quarter in 2013.  Nokia’s smartphone division has also reported revenues drop of $1.8 billion, compared with the same quarter in 2012.

Looking at the sales numbers, we can see that the Lumia share is growing thanks to the cheap models like the Nokia Lumia 520, 620 and others. Overall, 7.4 million Lumia devices have been shipped around the globe in the quarter. It is a big improvement. Nokia sold 4.4 million phones in Q4 2012 and 5.6 million in Q1 2013. At the same time, the Asha sales have shrunk from 5 million in Q1 to 4.3 million now. The bad news comes from North America. The sales there have dropped by 22% compared with the previous quarter.

Nokia incur losses in its mapping division HERE. The division lost €89 million, while the Nokia – Siemens division made a profit of €8 million. To conclude, the financial results for Q2 left some mixed feelings. Windows Phone and the Lumia sales are speeding up, but Nokia and Microsoft have still some way to go.
